FAQWhat is Band Boosters? Also known as JFBB, Jefferson Forest Band Boosters is parent-led, board-governed organization with two functions: manage the tens of thousands of dollars needed every year to run all the band programs and secure the hundreds of volunteers needed each season for assisting with these programs. JFBB works closely with Band Directors and Band Staff on all band needs. Meetings are held in the band room on the 2nd Tues. of each month. All band parents are encouraged to attend. Band fees are high! What can I do to reduce my fees? New Kroger's Plus Rewards Program. Enroll your Kroger's Plus Rewards card using the link above. Each quarter you can print out and submit your earnings, which will directly offset any band fees you have. We also offer several individual fundraising opportunities during the year to help band fees. What should I do if my marching band child never tells me anything or gives me any papers? 1. Join the email list on the HOME page to get newsletters and other information sent DIRECTLY TO YOU. 2. Check the website regularly and download & read the Rookie Parent Survival Guide. 3. Band members will get handouts early for apparel and picture orders. Ask for them if you are interested. 4. Attend band booster meetings & volunteer to help so you become connected with other parents in the know! 5. Get the name and # of your child's section leader or a more responsible friend and threaten to call them as necessary. Better yet, threaten to call Mr. Webb... (Just don't ACTUALLY call Mr. Webb.) |
What has BINGO got to do with band? In short, BINGO games are hosted by JFBB each Saturday night at the Elks Lodge in Lynchburg, across from FunQuest. Bingo's charitable gaming profits finance most of the band boosters budget, which far exceeds student band fees. Once every 7 weeks, parent volunteers serve on a BINGO team which runs the Saturday game from about 4:00 to 9:30. Work mostly includes selling tickets and collecting money. See also BINGO letter. Restaurant Nights: What should I know? Additional JFBB fundraising opportunities arise during the year such as Panera Bread restaurant nights. Up to $800 has been raised in a single night, just by having band program members work a required two-hour service shift and by having friends & families come to eat an $8 dinner between 4 pm & 8 pm. We keep 1/2 of that money & all service tips. Your participation is very appreciated! I am now able to volunteer for something but wasn't sure what to check on the volunteer form. Who can I contact about helping? Click here to contact Jason Bowyer (jabowyer@gmail.com), a Marching Band Coordinator. She can help connect you to the right job and the right person. |
